Core Values
Purpose
To guide our youth through their spiritual, physical, mental and emotional changes
and giving them the opportunity to play an active role in the Church.
Goal:
To mold our youth to be not only leaders of tomorrow, but to be the young leaders
of today.
St. Genevieve Youth Ministry:
Youth Ministry by itself is the response of the Christian
family to the needs of young people, and to involve young people in sharing their unique gifts to the wider community.
SGYM is not a "youth group" where young people just hang
out. It is about ministering to all young people, making them leaders of our Church not in the future, but right now! Everyone
(Clergy, Parents, Community etc. ) plays an important role in this ministry.
SGYM is based from the model of Comprehensive Ministry that
the U.S. Catholic Bishops offered as a framework for Catholic Youth. It is under the guidance of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles
and the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministries.
The Comprehensive Youth Ministry has four settings
to serve that involves the Youth, Family, Parish and Community. The Ministry lives with eight components that incorporates
the four settings. The eight components are: Advocacy, Catechesis, Community Life,
Evangelization, Justice & Service, Pastoral Care, Prayer & Worship and Leadership Development.
